This copy of the standard edition KIZUNA book (silver cover) explores the importance of creative spaces, in particular print studios. The book includes interviews from six print studios in Japan, alongside risograph-printed film photographs and a print design made in collaboration with each studio in Japan.
Exploring how these print studios support creative networks, the book itself has been a labour of love. With covers screenprinted at Edinburgh Printmakers and the inside of the book printed at Peacock: a workshop for art, Aberdeen.
The book is handmade from start to finish. Each page has been carefully risograph printed, layering up colours to achieve the unique finish that risograph printing allows for. Within the book, there is a limited number of digitally printed photos (in each studio’s interview sections), but beyond that, the book utilises very manual processes. After each pages printing, it is trimmed, punched, collated and wire-bound into the book!
