I exist with a film camera constantly by my side. It used to be my dad’s old Minolta, but unfortunately, the battery component has given up on that, and it is kindly in the custody of my friend’s dad, who is trying to nurse it back to health!

Thankfully, I managed to pick up a refurbished point and shoot camera from a wee shop in Rome (the first roll of film was filled with sunny photos!) This compact wee camera has been serving me well. Between the point and shoot and a more advanced Canon film camera, I take hundreds of film photos every year.

There is something about the chance in it which I love! You set it all up, have a vision for how the photo will look, but you don’t find out until the roll of film is finally developed.
It’s different from the other mediums I work with, where I can constantly tweak and edit things, continually adapt them, until I am 100% happy, whereas with film, you have to have trust.

Lots of the photos I take are of small moments, of friends gathering, meals shared and moments of laughter, but, in the many rolls of film, there are also small, quiet moments. Some of these have been printed and are available in here, on my shop!
