Messy Play

September 15 - Water & Coastlines Week

The Great British Beach Clean starts this Friday, and to celebrate our wonderful coastlines, we will spend this messy play session thinking about our seas and coastlines! Through a sea foam sensory station and a group coastline building table activity, we will have a tactile and fun session!

—-
These sessions will meet every other week from 10:15 to 11 a.m. for some sensory-based fun for babies and toddlers (aged 0-5 years).

In Messy Play, we will employ different materials to craft, draw, paint and discover textures, sounds, colours and shapes together. The sessions focus on early years foundational aspects of sensory development, giving babies and toddlers a space to engage freely with different sensorial stimuli.

The sessions are structured with 2 play areas - one playing mat on the floor for babies and small children, and a table with materials and instructions for older children to engage in more structured creative activities with their parents.

These classes are also an opportunity for parents to find new routines and combat parental isolation by meeting other creative parents.

Kizuna - Glasgow Launch

KIZUNA - Community Through Printmaking, Glasgow Book & Film Launch

This book launch and film screening will celebrate the launch of KIZUNA - Community Through Printmaking in Japan!

This event celebrates the sharing of Kizuna - Community Through Printmaking in Japan, a project by Carla Smith & Nicola Lyttle, which explores the importance of printmaking studios and how these spaces support creative networks.

The book and film explore how community exists within creative spaces. To investigate this, the project focuses in particular on risograph printmaking studios in Japan to unpack how community exists within print studios.

To build an understanding of the supportive networks that creative spaces nurture, we visited six different studios in Japan. Documenting through photography, interviews, and physically making a print in each space, we were able to build a picture of how print studios are the perfect supportive environment for making rich creative connections. Despite the language barrier, we were able to meaningfully understand how printmaking with others has the ability to allow us to communicate and build exciting, unique relationships.

This project has been created through lots of hard work and community support! We are so grateful to everyone who has believed in this project and supported us each step of the way. This event is an opportunity to share the work and celebrate its realisation!
